Everybody knows how much I love cycling, right? So of course it should come as no surprise that I’m doing a, um, 10k run in mid-July.
To be honest, I wouldn’t be up for it except future brother-in-law Jason Cross is making me do it. And to make things worse, I’m going to do my best to keep up with him for as long as possible. You’ll get some idea of how difficult that’ll be when I tell you he’s a fireman, spends a lot of time in the gym, and then runs a cross-training class with all the energy he somehow has left over.
We’re raising money for CALM (the Campaign Against Living Miserably), and not just because they’ve put a lot of work into that acroynm, but more seriously because Jason lost his friend and best man earlier this year.
CALM is a small charity dedicated to preventing male suicide, and as such they aren’t awash with cash. If you can find a fiver or tenner sitting in a bank account that you won’t miss too much I’d greatly appreciate it, and I’m sure CALM will appreciate it even more.
And you don’t have to worry that I’ll be having another whip-round for a marathon or some such next year because this running lark is hard work.
